Vibrato

I’ve been getting vibes both external and internal telling me to PICK UP THAT BLOG AND BLOG. And I’m happy to come back and start journaling again.
This is a shorter entry cause I gotta jet in a few, but just wanted to commence the blog’ness.
I went to my first Second Saturday today and enjoyed it immensely. Second Saturday is an event put on through my church, Windsor Crossing, that takes place every second Saturday of the month from 815 – 2ish. We go to u-city and help improve the city by fixing up houses, cleaning up the area, making time for conversation with those in need and reaching out to the community. I have not done much volunteering at any church so this was a big step for me. I’ve always considered myself an active church member, but I suppose that was limited to going to groups and meeting people and hanging out. I feel I’m making a transformation where the world doesn’t revolve around me, where my life is an instrument, and I am not the dictator anymore! I feel that God is moving the pieces into place and positioning me and I’m super excited to see what happens and what we can do.
Peace out

Advent Conspiracy

ISN'T IT WEIRD? and crazy and exciting and scary when your church begins a series that hits you so hard and so real you can't ignore it?!

I go to Windsor Crossing which is a cool, hip, down to earth church which is trying to create a new image of 'church' and 'christians', but that's a topic for another day.

I went to the Robbie Seay Band's (http://www.last.fm/music/Robbie+Seay+Band) concert on Sunday, they're headlining the 'Hope, Coffee Melody' fall tour with Chris Taylor and Allie Rogers (both amazing artists 2 very good listens). The concert was amazing, and crazier yet, the concert was free, and at my Windsor! Apparently the staff at Windsor is all buddy buddy with the Robbie Seay family, so that's cool, I'm sure I'll be seeing more of their music performed in the coming future.

The thing that hit me, to go back to my beginning statement of this post, is they were kicking off the beginning of a new type of life. You may say, 'what you mean a new type of life?' and I'll say, 'Well the beginning of Advent Conspiracy... duh. This concert was not the first time I've heard of Advent Conspiracy (and it won't be the last). Envion Studios, my business, was going to be the firm to redesign their website and I heard about it last year and a few of my buddies from Windsor have chatted about it around me but it never hit me how powerful this really is.

What is Advent Conspiracy?
Click here (http://www.robbieseayband.com/) to watch an amazing video (and as a design enthusiest i think it's an absolutely amazing video).

b. Read (me? i prefer the video because it rocks, and also you can get to more info once on the site with the video.

The concept behind Advent Conspiracy Is:
Worship Fully
Spend Less
Give More
Love All

c. Chat it up with me. And of course if you don't feel like reading (understandable) and you can't watch for the video for some unknown reason (not-understandable :)) If you don't have my chat info you best get it.

d. All of the above.

This hit me hard.

just the other day i said to myself 'it's time to renew my wardrobe', then I continued, 'why stop there, why not renew my living room, get some black 20 rims on your car, get 2 24 monitors...', i went on for quite a while, i even wrote a list! Then i got hit by this message once again, and not just once recently but almost constanly, like God is saying trying to show me how so many people in this world, including myself' are so selfish. There was this Advent Conspiracy, then one of my friend blogged about selfishness not too long ago and I looked at the list I wrote earlier and was overwhealmed with how blessed my life has been.

Then pops the question, what am I doing with the blessings being given to me?

The Power of Sound

It's amazing to me how powerful sound is in our lives.
The other day I was working and I heard a song from a cd I listened to back when i used to walk to and from work downtown chicago everyday. The memories that came back were incredible, all you can do is just smile and soak in the details. Memories that were sparked from a single soundwave.
The details are amazing too, I was drawn back to remembering events that occured, smells that I experienced, how the weather was, down to such detail that it felt like I was reliving the experience.
This has been happening to me a lot lately, specifically listening to music, maybe it's because I pulled out a playlist from a while ago on my computer, or mayb e there's some other reason.
Does this happen to anyone else? I would hope so. Or more specifically, does anyone have certain cd's that they always pull out in certain seasons? (christmas cd's do not count, I know everyone loves listening to christmas tunes in april)
I can't believe the impact that sound or music has on my life, it's awesome how it brings back all those great memories like a movie.

The birth of amazingness

Been a while!
I am now the president of Envion Studios LLC!
What is Envion Studios you may ask? Well it's a design company specializing in web solutions.
Who's apart of it? Me (president, code monkey), Justin Arendt (vice president, designer), Tyler Hammond (designer), and Alex Walchli (sales dog).
Because of this new venture I've been pretty dang busy. Have had a lot of things going through my mind, lot of things to go over, set up, put in motion and it's the most exciting things i've ever done. It's everything I've wanted to do, I think i've wanted to do this since I was 5 and I looked at my dad and told him some day I am going to own my own semi trucks and have them take all of my stuff around the world and that I was also going to own a skyscraper. This is the begining of it all, and it couldn't be moving any smoother.
If you or anyone you know needs a unique look on the website, we would love to build a website for you/them, just contact me and we'll put things in motion.
If you lead us to a job that follows through we will give you a referal of up to $100!!

One of those nights

So tonight just happens to be one of those nights where I cannot sleep at all! I have been in my bed for about 1 and half hours trying to sleep and... nothing.
So - My church is entering a very intriguing topic - the song of solomon.
how did the world we live in become so corrupt of the essence of love? When did we lose touch and become so far away from the truth and meaning and practice? I hope that I can overcome the 'normal' of today's society when it comes down to it and follow my heart and my morals; and what I believe is right and not what the world tells me is right. I weap for the world but am joyful in the world all at the same time. I believe we live in a real time / current / conscious paradox.

Tha's right, added the geek category

Yes, I added a geek category to my blog! wonder why it took this long lol. It's very strange that, no matter how much I hated high school class and the mental drain the teachers impailed from me and the useless sessions in most classes, I do miss learning, and I am school sick
Really, all I miss is learning math - which is weird because that's most people's least favorite subject, but now mine! I loved calculus, so I decided to start learning calc again.
I was thinking one day - I wonder what the highest level of math course there is - So I started googling and found this site:
http://www.math.ufl.edu/courses/toc-big.html (http://www.math.ufl.edu/courses/toc-big.html)
It gave me a pretty good idea, how amazing is it that there is so much knowledge out there for you to learn! I can't wait to start learning more and taking in as much as I can. I hate having potential to be better at something, or to know more of something, and to not do anything about it.
that is all

Phew

Phew... been a long time since my last real post! guess life is relentlessly busy.
The last couple of weeks have been quite the crazy, not sure if any of you knew, a college happening is finally starting to take place at my church! and it couldn't be any better of a time for me. I've already decided that I am wanting to give as much time / energy / resources to this ministry as I possibly can, I couldn't be more excited. How often do you wish that you could be a part of the beginning of something, or wish that you could become a huge part in a community.
That's the exactly how I have been feeling lately, I remember back in the day when I used to be active in my church, remembered how it felt to always have something to look forward to every week, and how many awesome people I met and shared experiences. And this time I can be the start of a huge thing in this area, give those with no hope, nothing to look forward to, no one exciting to look forward to meet, I realized that I can be a part of the spark in their lives that gives them their life back, the meaning of it and the love of it. I didn't really realize why I did it back in high school not even sure if I though of it, but now that I've grown I can't help but think, how many people are out there bored with life, bored with who they know, missing that key element of existance, missing God!
So every sunday night after the 5th at 5 (the 5th church service @5 at windsor : church) the college group are hanging out ---- somewhere. Doesn't matter where, and it's not going to be the same every week. We're just going to hang out and do life together. I can't wait! till the next get together (which is my bday), just because not only am I growing with others, but this opens a portal for me to finally meet people my own age (Impossible feet at my situation it often seems).

Time to vent...
So, i just got a letter from my insurance because they don't think I have a valid liscense. And nearly the same day I got a letter from my financing stating that they want me to mail them proof of my insurance. So I was completely fine with it, until I woke up this morning to go to the DMV to get my liscense swapped over to Missouri but that's when I realized that the DMV has the most outrageous schedule in the WORLD!
The DMV Hours: notice the 'first and last saturday' What is that!? they basically make it absolutely impossible for anyone with a job to get anything done! i'm sick of it. Then I found out that in order to get a liscense plate in this state you have to do a list of about 20 things, and they have to all be done in order ... AND nobody has the list. You just go to the places and they tell you what you need before you can do this and the next place does the same. URRRGHHHH!
OFFICE HOURS

for you gmail lovers

Google gets IMAP support!!!!

For those of you who do not know what IMAP is then this next little bit is for you.
IMAP? if you wish to use a mail client on your computer such as thunderbird or outlook or mail (for macs) then you probably are using a POP server. The problem with POP servers are that all the emails are downloaded onto your computer, and whatever changes you make (ie. read / unread emails, moving emails to folders, marking emails etc) are not carried over when you view your mail through gmail's web interface. with imap the client on your computer simply transfers all that information to you, and updates it.
if you read an email, then it will be marked read on both your desktop client and the web client, so if you're on the road or at a different computer, you don't have to go through a million unread emails that you have already read. In addition, if you move emails to a folder or label it is automatically updated in gmail. pretty sweet eh?
thought so.
check out this link, and if you are lost shoot me an email from the contacts link and i'll help you out.

Sad news

Sad news, but I'm glad that this can happen and I can have my sanity at the same time. I found out this morning that there is more wrong with Rachel, my eagle talon, than what I thought / was told last week. I went to Dobb's (mech. shop) to pick up my car because they said that it was fixed and that it was ready to be picked up. The reason it wasn't working was a mystery to them, and still was when I went to pay and pick up my keys. 2 fuses were blown, and the oil tank was completely empty!? which is ridiculous because I just got an oil change 4 weeks before this incident. I went to pick up my car with Rob to drive my new car back (a half hour from home) got in the car, and tried to start it... the same thing happened. So basically I paid for a mech shop to give my car back in the exact same condition i handed it to them? no, not on my watch.
So long story short, I am getting full refund for the repairs and work done prior to, but... now my best option is to have it toed (pay for it) to a dump and get paid 'maybe' for the toe charge amount. So it's crushed my spirits a little bit, but who knows, maybe i'll put it on craig's list for 400 bucks and it'll be taken out of my hands.
eeeeeek!

Breathe You In

Breahe You In
Thousand Foot Krutch

Taking hold, breaking in
The pressures on, need to circulate
Mesmerized and taken in
Moving slow, so it resonates
It's time to rest, not to sleep away
My thoughts alone, try to complicate
I'll do my best, to seek you out
And be myself, not impersonate

Tried so hard to not walk away
And when things don't go my way
I'll still carry on and on just the same

I've always been strong
But can't make this happen
'Cause I need to breathe, I want to breathe you in
The fear of becoming
So tired of running
Cause I need to breathe, I want to breathe you in
I want to breathe you in

I'm going in, so cover me
Your compass will, help me turn the page
The laughing stock I'll never be
Because I won't let them take me

Tried so hard to not walk away
And when things didn't go my way
I'll still carry on and on just the same

I've always been strong
But can't make this happen
'Cause I need to breathe, I want to breathe you in
The fear of becoming
So tired of running
Cause I need to breathe...

Took awhile to see all the love that's around me
Through the highs and lows there's a truth that I know
And it's You

I want to breathe you in

I bought a new car! I've been looking for a while now and knew that I didn't want to go through a rerun of last winter with the car I currently had (some know her as rachel, the eagle)... it just wasn't reliable. So with my new job I knew that I didn't want to have any possibillity of missing work and creating a bad impression. and that is THE only reason I got a new car................
yeah right! I'm am pleased to unleash my New car! It is a Mazda RX-8 with the famous 212 hp rotary engine, 18 rims, and more fun to go around. It is by far going to be a journey to afford it but it is a journey worth traveling.
I have more pictures in my photo gallery (use the button on the left) in the category My Car. But for you lazy people who don't want to click the button here's some appetizers for yah...

Gretchypoo!!

Today was a great day. I've been so excited to move to St. Louis for so many reasons and one being because Megan, one of my best friends from highschool, lives here and we would finally be able to hang out again!
So, I drove to her apartment and it was so great to see her again. We caught up and somehow got talking about movies, specifically with aliens in them (go figure, me talking about movies... WHAT?!?) and I brought up Close encounter of the third kind, which is a great classic, and she has never seen it in her life! No surprise there, that will change with a lot of movies she hasn't seen. So we went to the school library on campus and checked it out and watched half of it. We then were picked up by her friend and we went to a musical, which was absolutely hilarious, called the Alter Boyz. It was a different musical than I've ever seen, so I was surprised, it wasn't really a play driven musical, it was a nock off of a boy band like nsync or backstreet boys, but I was amazed because these guys were hilarious. Then we went back to her apt and finished the movie and made fun of CSI - Miama - only thing to do when watching that show. The first CSI was awesome and I loved it, but the predicesors were not so great. Then i drove home looking forward to spend more time with her. My first friend in my new home (which doesn't really count since she's been a friend for so many years) but none the less, it was really nice to hang out with someone I could relate to.
Also a big news of the day:
We started production in the basement (my pad). During the week, Rob and I went to Lowes and bought supplies to wire the basement with more outlets and an ethernet outlet. And today, Rob had one of his friends, who specialize in wiring these sorts of things, come over and help wire the basement. So it's becoming more official and I finally do not have to have 30 extension chords wrap around the walls.
let the development begin.

Have you ever wondered how some people / companies come up with so many creative things / ideas? It almost seems as if they have a method to this ingeniousness.
Well, THEY DO!!!
Belief Design is a company that does a lot of Digital Media Production, aka videos, such as music videos, commercials, online promos, etc.
The following link is to their website for two videos where they show and tell what methods work and what to do to think creatively. I found it highly interesting and entertaining and am going to put some things at work.

I'm BACK!

So, I’m finally a little more settled down so I was able to get my website back up and running, it is now on a different server, other than my own, so it should be up 24hrs every day, whether I move or not.
For those of you who do not know why my site has been down, it is because I was hosting it on my server, and moved to Saint Louis, so there was some down time L.
Job
I’ve been working at Customer Direct for a week and a half now, I start my 2nd full week tomorrow, and each day is just as exciting and enjoyable as the next. I am the ‘Number 2’ or the 2nd lead programmer for their IT Product Solutions. ---- caution: more detailed approaching: Customer Direct outsources Customer Service and is a 24 hour shop. They have clients, customers, phone agents, internet agents, who all must be monitored, recorded, be able to log and store data in regards to tickets, hours, problems, good things bad things, yada yada yada. :: big breath :: So in order to have that function, an IT Department is required, and so I am a part of the development and maintenance of the online application that controls this whole system.
There, that wasn’t so bad was it? You got it over with, you know a little more about what I do and you improved your reading skill by .000000000001% - maybe.
Home
I am pleased to call my new home by rent, “The Basement of My Sister”. I know what you’re thinking, but STOP, it’s so great and there’s not much more that I could ask for at the moment. I have my own domain, my own parking spot, home cooked meals, my own area in the bathroom, and I’m around family all the time, did I mention the home cooked meals?! There’s not much that beats that for a 19 year old - Life is good, and I feel blessed that I have a family who understand and are willing to help other family members, whether it’s a huge deal or a small deal, so I am very grateful.
Question: why do you spell grateful as grate when grate is a synonym for annoy, irritate, aggravate, vex? - very interesting, I’d like to know.

Last Weekend in Chicago

Well, this is the last weekend in my apartment in Chicago / .
I put two faces because I will miss this place, but I put smiles first because I'm super esxcited and cannot wait to move! Since this is my last weekend I thought I'd have a little fun and go crazy, so that's why my entire weekend consists of helping with a school project, watching movies, and freelancing. Very Exciting... not. Oh well, I need the rest anyways.
It is super hard to find boxes in this area for some crazy reason. I called 4 grocery stores in my area and everyone who answered the phone sounded foreign and they put me on hold for a while, came back, and told me they don't have any boxes try back later. Tuff luck matt.
I only have 2 days left at work! It's unbelievable, and agonizing all at the same time. I'm definitely not going to miss the train rides and walking aka the four hour commute. Although I will have to make up for the reading time.
Well, I gotta get cleaning / box searching / packing.

OpenID soon

So, there are a few things on his website that I am working on and I would love to have your feedback, whatever it may be and fom whomever it may be from, i'm always interested in constructive critisism.
First off, I'm trying to add in to this site the abillity to sign in using an OpenID.
What is OpenID? Great question... In short, OpenID is a way for individuals to create identity online and use it anywhere OpenID is supported (from openid.net).
Some of the more common websites out there are:

    LiveJournal.com
    WordPress.com
    Vox.com
    greatestjournal.com
    deadjournal.com
    insanejournal.com
    wikitravel.org
    AOL.com
    newscloud.com
    yahoo.com

The list goes on for nearly forever, and who knows, you may already have an openID, you may have 10! but the reason I bring this up is soon, you can use that login with this website.

for more info on OpenID checkout my link archive for OpenID (http://www.matt-simpson.com/component/option,com_weblinks/catid,17/Itemid,23/ (component/option,com_weblinks/catid,17/Itemid,23/)).

Labor Day Weekend

Labor day, filled with fun, amazing food, family, and especially a nevertiring joyful nephew .I went back to my home town this weekend, Rock Island, for labor day weekend, and luckily enough Caleb (muh brother), Jenny (muh sister in law), Zeke (muh nephew), and Anabelle (muh niece) came down this weekend also! Which was great because I haven't seen them in over 2 and a half months, and you know how fast little kids grow and it's amazing.Zeke became my best friend for the weekend and brought back childhood memories which was great, I played legos, gi-joes, cars, baseball with a tee, and a game over neverending movement, haha. The greatest part about it, is you (atleast I) always wish to go back to childhood and play those much loved activities like legos, but If you actually did it you'd say, I could be doing somethign much better with my time haha and you'd look silly. But the greatest thing is when you're with your almost 3 year old nephew, you look silly to him if you don't play.YAY for excuses to go back to childhood.

Job Job Job

I am pleased to announce that I have succeeded in the job search world. I am the newest member at Customer Direct (http://www.customerdirect.com (http://www.customerdirect.com) )!!!! I got two job offers Tuesday the 28th while I was at work and I just felt like exploading with excitement and content. I thank God everytime I think about it because there were so many times that I felt too tired to remain enthused on the search but he pulled me through and it is glorious! So, I put in my 2 weeks notice at my current employer, which was very exciting, and my last day is Tuesday the 11th of September (ironic date). What will I be doing? Well, I am going to be a PHP Programmer, my official title is IT Product Developer. Customer Direct outsources customer service for other companies, so my obvious main concern was that their main focus isn't programming and development. After the interview I was highly convinced that without a doubt I would be of great importance and that 'product development' or programming is one of their essential utillities. The way I felt from my visit was absolutely amazing, the atmosphere was awesome, the people were great, and it just seemed like I fit. It is a salary full time position, with benifits, and vacation time, which is very exciting because a year or two from now I would never had imagined having a full time salary job this early in the game, and I feel blessed and pray that God will give me the confidence and mindset to step foot onto the salary field. My parents are helping me move on the 15th and my first day on the job is Wednesday the 19th of September.I couldn't be more excited.

Job Search Interlude

Yes Yes, it is true. As you all have known I have been searching and searchig for a new job in Saint Louis for what feels like forever now, but it really has not been forever at all.Since the begining of July I have been searching for a new job, talking to recruiters, having tons of phone interviews and having exhausting adventures down to Saint Louis and back. It's been tuff but I'm still truckin, I know that it will happen soon, God has a place for me and if I havn't found where he wants me to be yet then so be it. But I'm getting very tired of this rollercoaster on the cliff.I spoke with a new company today, very young but smart - talented - and driven group of programmers - designers - marketers. It was an excellent interview and I am looking forward to their response. The recruiter for this job know that I have another company possibly sending me an offer very soon so he is determined to get the process sped up, which is great. If offered, I would take this job in a second. It looks amazing.

Website Launch

I thought since I'm a web programmer that it's about time for me to build a website dedicated to my life, I was lucky enough to have www.matt-simpson.com still available, I was very surprised, most personal domain names have been taken, and Matt Simpson is not a very unique name, don't quote me on that though.
